Chris Hani Inquest
The YCL in its re-launching congress it resolved on the opening of the inquest on the death of the former General Secretary of the SACP comrade Chris Hani. It was believed that there were many unanswered question about the death of comrade Chris Hani? The campaign is find closure and answers about hi death to correct our history for the incoming generations to know what happened and who was behind?
The campaign was taken up by jointly National and Western Cape Province which there demonstrations organized to NPA offices. There is a need to intensify signature campaign on the inquest in provinces. There are provincial targets of signature which that should be reached by the end of this period of NC program.
Tasks of Structures in the Campaign
Nationally
- Coordinate provincial work of the campaign
- Deploy NC comrades to provincial demonstrations on the campaign
- Collect minimum of 50000 signatures on the inquest from all provinces
- Monitor implementation of the campaign work in provinces
Provinces
- Collect minimum of 5000 signatures on the campaign
- Organize a provincial march to NPA office and submit collected signatures
- Develop work plan for the provincial march
- Fundraise for the march cost
- Inform SACP about the campaigns
- Coordinate mobilization in districts for provincial march
- Inform alliance structures about the campaign
- Report to the national office on developments
Districts
- Coordinate mobilization work in branches
- Report to the provincial structure on fortnight basis
- Develop district mobilization plan
- Asses work and implementation in branches the campaign
- Conduct branch political education on YCL campaigns and role of branches
- Interact with home affairs on mobile ID registration dairy and give branches information to mobilize communities to participate
Branches
- Mobilize communities behind YCL campaign
- Organize Youth forum in communities on YCL campaigns and inform district structure
- Interact with youth structures on the campaign
- Compile data to assist communities to get ID documents
- Mobilize communities for ID registration during mobile Id registration visits
- Mobilize communities and members for YCL demonstrations
