Statement by the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA)

Introduction: The Latest Racist Attack on South Africa’s Sovereignty
The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the expulsion of South Africa/s ambassador to the United States by Donald Trump/s rogue circus of imperialist buffoons. This move, announced by the right-wing extremist Secretary of State Marco Rubio, is not based on genuine diplomatic concerns, it is a desperate move from a cowardly, washed-up conman who has made a career of lying, bullying, and serving the interests of the billionaire elite and has now attempted to strong-arm independent nations into submission.
Marco Rubio is nothing more than a glorified ice boy for Wall Street and the regressive intelligence networks. Let’s be clear Marco Rubio is not a policymaker; he is a mouthpiece for Trump’s sinister foreign policy agenda desperately attempting to score points with Trump’s rabid far-right base, serving the same reactionary forces that have historically made it their mission to overthrow democratically elected governments across Latin America, Africa, and beyond.
And then there’s the apartheid profiteer Elon Musk, another key figure in this anti-South African crusade. This self-serving oligarch, built his wealth on the backs of exploited workers and government bailouts, first during the Obama administration and now the Trump administration where he is the defacto co-president.
South Africa is not some weak, trembling colony begging for the approval of a failing U.S. empire. We do not take orders from a disgraced reality TV host, a spineless Florida senator, or a billionaire parasite who fled to America when democracy arrived in South Africa. Our sovereignty is not up for negotiation, and we will not be intimidated by a cabal of right-wing imperialist thugs.
Exposing the Trump Administration’s Lies and Misinformation Agenda
The Land Expropriation Lie
Trump falsely claimed that the South African government was engaged in mass “land grabs” targeting white farmers, even though not a single hectare has been expropriated without compensation under the current law. This is a blatant distortion, designed to encourage right-wing extremists in the United States and internationally. Land reform in South Africa is a constitutional process aimed at reversing centuries of colonial dispossession and apartheid-era theft. Who is Donald Trump to dictate how we should wage our legitimate struggle to transform our country’s disgraceful legacy of colonial apartheid?
The “White Genocide” Myth
The far-right narrative that white South Africans are being systematically murdered has been proven to be an outright lie. This baseless propaganda, amplified by Trump and Rubio, is part of a global effort to stoke racial division and undermine black-led governance in post-colonial states. The reality is that the vast majority of South Africans, particularly black working-class communities, continue to suffer the worst effects of violent crime, economic exclusion, and landlessness.
The Targeting BRICS and South Africa/s Economic Sovereignty
South Africa is under attack not because of its policies but because of its growing role in BRICS. This block represents a fundamental challenge to U.S. hegemony. Trump, his administration, and their corporate backers fear a multipolar world where the United States can no longer dictate global economic and political affairs. Their hostility toward South Africa stems from our strengthening ties with China and Russia, our refusal to be a pawn in the regressive unilateral U.S. foreign policy agenda, and our governmentfs commitment to a non-aligned, sovereign foreign policy. The Trump administration does not seek genuine cooperation with South Africa in contrast, it seeks domination to make us economically dependent and politically subordinate.
The YCLSA Demands Decisive Action Amid Trump’s Provocative Shit Show
The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) demands that the South African government implement the following measures to safeguard our sovereignty and national interests:
Expel the US Ambassador and Close their Embassy Until Further Notice
For decades, the US Embassy in Pretoria has functioned as a hub for intelligence gathering, economic espionage, and interference in South Africafs political affairs. If our ambassador is unwelcome in Washington, there is no justification for permitting US operatives to continue their activities on South African soil.
Review AGOA and Other Unequal Trade Agreements
The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) has long been marketed as a benefit to African nations, in reality, it overwhelmingly serves the interests of US corporations at the expense of African development. The South African government must urgently review all trade agreements that entrench dependency and inequality, ensuring they align with the broader goals of African empowerment and sustainable development.
Strengthen BRICS and Global South Cooperation
To counteract Trumpfs economic coercion and isolationist approach, South Africa must deepen its partnerships with member states of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), Latin America, and other progressive global forces. By forging stronger alliances with nations committed to building a multipolar world order, we can counteract attempts of reactionary forces to diminish South Africafs standing on the global stage.
Defend our Land Reform Without Fear of Retaliation from the West
The land issue is not up for debate in Washington. It is a non-negotiable matter of historical justice and economic transformation. As the YCLSA we reaffirm our support for expropriation without compensation as a genuine struggle of our people and a necessary step toward redressing the mass land theft that continues to define South Africafs economic inequality. South Africa must move decisively on land reform without fear of Western economic retaliation.
Conclusion: South Africa Will Not Be Held at Randsom by Irrelevant Racist Thugs
Trump and his administration have continuously disrespected South Africafs sovereignty, undermined our government, and openly sided with treasonous forces that seek to maintain white supremacy and economic inequality in South Africa. The expulsion of our ambassador is a continuation of a long pattern of imperialist aggression, and we must not retreat or capitulate.
The YCLSA calls upon all progressive forces, both foreign and domestic, to unite in defence of South Africafs sovereignty. We must collectively mobilize around:
- Breaking the chains of economic dependency on the United States
- Reject U.S. imperialist blackmail and neoliberal trade pacts
- Deepen ties with BRICS, Latin America, and Pan-Africanist forces
- Expose and resist all attempts at U.S.led regime change and hybrid warfare
South Africa belongs to its people, not to Washington, not to Wall Street, and certainly not to Donald Trump and his far-right imperialist cabal.
We will not bow to foreign threats. We will not surrender our right to economic transformation. We will not allow Trumpfs imperialism to dictate our future.
