YCLSA is taken aback, deeply annoyed and perturbed by reckless utterances made by Fikile Mbalula- ANC Secretary General against our SACP General Secretary, Cde Solly Mapaila. It is worth highlighting that our General Secretary has not singled out any leader of the ANC during his recent reflections on the political developments in the country. Rather he maintained the Party position that the liberation forces should not succumb to neither the parasitic state capture networks nor neo-liberal elites.
Consistent with the say that you must ‘beat the dog until the owner comes out’, It is becoming vivid how tight the chains of Capital are shackled around the necks and minds of some of our comrades in the liberation alliance.
We are mostly appalled by the latest remarks uttered by SG Fikile Mbalula against our GS on twitter. The ANC leaders have made it a norm to berate our GS on public platforms. These insults are hurled because the Party is not mum on the fact that the ANC has been navigating both the Alliance and the country into most troubled waters – thus committing class suicide.
Mr Mbalula must not act as if the GNU is a consensus resolved and agreed upon by the liberation alliance and therefore perceive the Party to be throwing toys out of the cot. Rather the choice for a GNU – with outright Zionist supporters and genocide sympathizers in favor of the markets – are a culmination of prior political and policy decisions that took South Africa to where it is today. We cannot in good faith argue that the ANC’s choice to align with outright agents of imperialism is a good class choice. It was indeed a gross ideological and political mistake for the ANC to opt the DA of all parties in our country.
The ANC is guilty of malicious compliance in terms of not consulting and seeking counsel from its own alliance partners on policy matters that directly affect both the future of this country and what stood opposed to the core of the class, being the workers of our country.
It is our firm belief that the ANC has opted for and committed class suicide with the GNU, more so given that workers are under much strain due to bad policy choices to appease the markets. Youth unemployment is skyrocketing, crime is at an all-time high, the cost of living is through the roof, we have food insecurity, there are small communities being run by extortionists, etc. All of this in favor of economic stability and dancing to the tune of domestic and international capital.
The culture inculcated by Capitalism is most despicable and we had ample opportunity to uproot this in these past 30 years. The Alliance was in the driver’s seat of navigating this countries’ future under the stewardship of the ANC in government. In acknowledging the gains of our revolutionary struggle, our class consciousness and conviction doesn’t allow us to side with what could reverse the hard earned gains of our revolution.
It is our firm belief that our people are not voting cows that should be milked come elections only to be abandoned post elections. The fact is, South Africans in majority voted the ANC instead of the DA, should be telling. Thus, the decision to make the DA an ally in government is a choice by the ANC and not a decision by South Africans collectively. We refuse to concede to this fallacy told by some within our ranks, we reaffirm the YCLSA position on the GNU coming out of our third plenary session to stand with the Party on this matter and if the ANC wants to debate, we invite the Secretary General of Twitter to start the discussion at the level of alliance Secretariat which is responsible for coordinating the alliance political council instead of twittering his views.
In conclusion, SG Mbabula correctly posits that the SACP and ANC are allies and not branches, and we ought to respect each other instead of his ongoing verbal diarrhea. Therefore, the YCLSA demands a modicum of ideological respect on the part of the ANC SG. It is lack thereof that the YCLSA has always called on the Party to fully implement its resolution on state and popular power by actively participating in elections to earn its respect from the class and its allies.
